Gypsy Lady
Words & Music written by Neil Carswell

So, you’re lying here
and I don’t even know your name.
Hey, ain’t it funny how
we play these silly games?
So, you’re hard up.
Woman I’ve been there too.
So tired of talking it over baby,
you know I’ve done lost all I can lose.
Yeah, yeah!!!

But later on tonight,
when the moon comes on shining brighter, babe,
I’ll be better off than my red-haired gypsy lady.
And somewhere on down the line,
a different road and a different mile,
I’ll still be searching for my red-haired gypsy lady!!!

So, I don’t need your point of view,
I like the winter time
but I don’t need no snow in June.
And I may be washed up,
yeah, and so I have had a few,
I’m so tired of talking it over baby,
you know I done lost all that I can lose,
yeah, yeah, yeah!!!

But later on tonight,
when the moon comes on shining brighter, babe,
I’ll be better off than my red-haired gypsy lady.
And somewhere on down the line,
a different road and a different rhyme,
I’ll still be searching for and thinking ‘bout my gypsy lady!!!

And I still
think about you
most of the time.
I still,
I think about you woman
in the bedroom at night,
when it’s cold outside
and I can’t seem to sleep alone at night.
Its cold on this river, babe,
and I can’t seem to wash you out of my mind.
I feel like I’m all mixed up inside
yeah, yeah, yeah!!!

But later on tonight,
when the moon comes on shining brighter, babe,
I’ll be better off than my red-haired gypsy lady.
You know what I’m saying, ha, ha, ha!!!
And somewhere on down the line,
a different road and a different mile,
I’ll still be searching for and thinking ‘bout my gypsy lady!!!
Yeah, yeah, yeah!!!
Yeah, somewhere on down the line,
a different road and a different rhyme,
I’ll still be searching for, thinking ‘bout my gypsy lady!!!

Song written in the cabin in North Carolina a few years back on my old upright piano. A true story of a relationship gone sour. I think the song says all that needs to be said. Great arrangement, players and production. One of my all time favorite songs ever written or recorded in my career.
